Oracle implements major workforce restructuring amid AI investment push
Oracle is undergoing significant workforce restructuring as it shifts resources toward artificial intelligence and cloud infrastructure. Reports indicate the company may be planning fresh layoffs, with some estimates suggesting between 7,000 and 10,000 employees could be affected globally.
In India, where Oracle maintains a large engineering and support presence, approximately 3,000 job cuts have been reported as part of this restructuring. This follows earlier reductions in the country earlier this year. The company’s global headcount saw a substantial decline in the fiscal year ending May 31, 2026, dropping from approximately 162,000 to 141,000 employees, a reduction of about 13 percent.
While employees in both the U.S. and India were bracing for potential notifications around September 1, 2026, the expected mass termination emails did not arrive on that date, leading to uncertainty regarding whether the cuts have been delayed or the plan abandoned. Oracle has not officially confirmed the specific details of the latest reported round of job reductions.
