Oracle reports strong Q1 revenue growth driven by AI cloud demand FAST-MOVING
Oracle Corporation reported strong fiscal first-quarter results, driven by a surge in demand for artificial intelligence cloud services. Total revenue rose 30% year-over-year to $19.3 billion, exceeding analyst expectations. The company’s cloud infrastructure (IaaS) revenue saw a significant jump of 121%, reaching $7.4 billion.
Key financial indicators include a massive increase in remaining performance obligations (RPO), which reached $664 billion. Oracle also secured over $30 billion in new AI cloud contracts during the quarter. To support this growth, the company delivered more than 300,000 GPUs to AI cloud customers and added 850 megawatts of data center capacity.
Despite the growth, the company faces challenges related to high capital expenditures, which totaled $28.5 billion this quarter, and rising debt levels. CFO Hilary Maxson noted that many new contracts involve customer prepayments or customers providing their own hardware, which helps mitigate the need for additional capital. Looking ahead, Oracle raised its fiscal 2027 adjusted earnings per share guidance to $8.10 and set a revenue target of at least $90 billion.
