Oracle Romania cuts around 500 jobs in latest layoff round

Oracle announced a new round of collective redundancies in its Romanian operations, affecting roughly 500 employees out of a total workforce of about 4,000 in the country. The cuts span four local entities – Oracle Romania SRL, Oracle Global Services Romania SRL, Oracle Sovereign Cloud Romania SRL and Oracle Sovereign Cloud Tech Romania SRL – and are part of a global restructuring linked to the company’s shift toward artificial‑intelligence driven business models.

Affected staff are expected to receive statutory notice, two months of garden‑leave pay and other compensation measures. The move follows a previous reduction of 400 jobs last year and a worldwide reduction of 21,000 positions, representing about 13% of Oracle’s global headcount. Oracle’s Romanian units generated roughly 1.8 billion lei in revenue in 2025 but reported losses, prompting the cost‑cutting actions.

The layoffs are likely to increase the supply of experienced IT professionals in the Romanian labor market, potentially strengthening bargaining power for remaining workers and creating recruitment opportunities for competing firms.
