Oradea adolescent narrowly avoids necrosis after unauthorized lip filler injection

An adolescent in Oradea, Romania, narrowly avoided tissue necrosis after a lip augmentation procedure involving hyaluronic acid went wrong. The procedure, which cost 800 lei, was performed in an unauthorized location that was not registered with the Bihor Public Health Directorate (DSP).

Medical professionals reported that the hyaluronic acid entered a blood vessel, causing acute ischemia, severe swelling, and bruising. Doctors faced a critical race against time because the hospital initially lacked the specific substance required to dissolve the acid. The necessary treatment was eventually sourced from a private clinic, allowing doctors to intervene before the damage became irreversible.

The individual performing the procedure reportedly promoted services such as lip enlargement and anti-wrinkle treatments on social media under the name ‘Ina Tatuaj’. Authorities, including the police and DSP Bihor, have launched investigations into the unauthorized practice of a profession and the operation of an unlicensed facility.
