Oradea hosts sixth Pop Simfonic la Catedrală concert

The sixth edition of the ‘Pop Simfonic la Catedrală’ concert took place on August 12, 2026, in Oradea, Romania. Held in Unirii Square near the Saint Nicholas Greek Catholic Cathedral, the event is part of the INITIO summer festival organized by the Oradea State Philharmonic.

This year's concert carries symbolic weight as it approaches the 2027 Jubilee, marking 250 years since the establishment of the Greek Catholic Diocese of Oradea. The event aimed to celebrate the living legacy of the institution and its role in shaping the spiritual and intellectual life of the community through its schools and cultural contributions.

Directed by Andrei Tudor, the performance featured the Oradea State Philharmonic Orchestra and Choir alongside various Romanian light music artists, including Andra, Ovidiu Lazăr, and Roxana Mureșan. The INITIO festival continues through early September, utilizing various historical and cultural sites across Oradea, such as the Oradea Fortress and the Roman Catholic Cathedral.
