Oradea prepares winter maintenance strategy for 2026–2027 season

Oradea officials have introduced a revised intervention strategy for snow and ice removal for the 2026–2027 winter season. Deputy Mayor Teofil Filimon announced the creation of a new 'category 0' priority level specifically targeting bridges and intersections to prevent icing on overpasses and bridges, a recurring issue during previous winters.

The city's sanitation provider, RER Vest, will be responsible for clearing approximately 3.67 million square meters of road surface across 1,285 routes. The updated priority system includes:

• Category 0: 81 bridges and intersections. • Category Ia: 399 routes, including main arteries, public transport stops, and access roads to public institutions. • Category Ib: 83 routes located in hilly areas. • Category II: Other secondary routes.
