Oradour-sur-Glane curfew for minors suspended by Council of State
The French Council of State has ordered the immediate suspension of a nighttime curfew targeting minors under 18 in Oradour-sur-Glane. The measure, which prohibited unaccompanied minors from being on public roads between 11 p.m. and 6 a.m., had been in place since July following complaints regarding noise and property damage.
While a local administrative court in Limoges had previously upheld the mayor's decision, the Council of State ruled that the restriction constituted a disproportionate infringement on individual liberties. The high court noted a lack of sufficient material evidence, such as police reports, to prove a rise in juvenile delinquency that would justify such a generalized measure.
