Oragroup and Coris Bank report growth in West African banking sector

Major West African banking groups Oragroup and Coris Bank International have reported significant financial performance metrics.

Oragroup reported a net profit of 18.5 billion FCFA for the first half of 2026, representing a 1% increase year-on-year. The group's total balance sheet grew by 3% to 4,134 billion FCFA, driven primarily by a 10% increase in customer deposits and an 8% rise in securities portfolios. Despite a 3% decline in net loans, the group aims to continue its recovery strategy through resource consolidation and improved operational efficiency within the UEMOA zone.

Coris Bank International saw its cumulative net profit for 2025 reach 113.96 billion FCFA, a 48.6% increase compared to the previous year. The group's share of profit rose by 49.3% to 79.2 billion FCFA. Total assets reached 7,724.2 billion FCFA, supported by a 28.3% increase in customer deposits. Burkina Faso remains the group's primary market, contributing 65.5 billion FCFA in net profit, followed by Côte d’Ivoire with 24.51 billion FCFA.
