Orange cat goes viral on Threads due to intense coat color

A bright orange cat has gained significant attention on the social media platform Threads after photos of the animal appeared so vibrant that users questioned if the images had been digitally edited.

The cat, shared by user @at_nurrrr, features a reddish-orange coat that appears exceptionally intense when caught in the light. Experts note that such vivid coloration can occur naturally due to genetics. The orange color is linked to genes on the X chromosome, which influence pigment production, making yellow-red or orange tones more dominant than black or brown pigments.

Because male cats possess only one X chromosome while females have two, orange-colored cats are more frequently male. The viral post has prompted various humorous reactions from the online community, with users jokingly comparing the cat to spicy food or suggesting it is a purebred lineage of the color.
