Orange County Grants $15,000 to Central Florida Dreamplex for Youth Wheelchair Basketball

Orange County’s Neighborhood Services Division awarded Central Florida Dreamplex a $15,000 Youth Sports Enhancement Grant to expand the Orlando Magic Dreamers youth wheelchair basketball program for athletes ages 5 to 18. The funding will be used to purchase specialized sports wheelchairs and new team uniforms, reducing financial barriers for young players with disabilities.

Program participants highlighted the impact, with 16‑year‑old Adriel Rosario saying the sport gives him a community where his disability “doesn’t hold me back.” CEO Cameron Gomes thanked the county, noting the grant will help more youth gain confidence and belonging through inclusive competition. The grant reflects Orange County’s broader commitment to expanding adaptive recreational opportunities for all residents.
