Orange County Power Authority offers more consumer choice than SCE

The Orange County Power Authority (OCPA) provides more consumer choice and transparency than Southern California Edison, according to a community perspective.

Addressing concerns regarding the legitimacy of OCPA’s green energy claims and its pricing structures, the report notes that cities opting into the authority can select the default rate plan for their constituents. In Huntington Beach, for example, the default was the mid-tier Smart Choice plan, which was less expensive than the standard Southern California Edison rate at the time. Subscribers retain the ability to choose between Basic Choice, Smart Choice, or 100% Renewable plans, or opt out of OCPA entirely to remain with Southern California Edison.
