Orange Democratic Movement launches mobilization tour in Kenya

The Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) has initiated an intensive three-day tour of Turkana County to reinforce its political base and counter recent defections. Senior party leaders, including National Chairperson Gladys Wanga and Deputy Party Leader Simba Arati, are leading the outreach alongside Raila Odinga Junior. The tour aims to secure support for upcoming by-elections in Lakezone and Nanaam Wards following the defection of Governor Jeremiah Lomorukai to the ruling UDA.

Raila Odinga Junior used the tour to urge former members to return to the party, emphasizing ODM’s commitment to devolution and national unity. This mobilization effort precedes a major party rally scheduled for October 31 at Nairobi’s Jacaranda Grounds. The party is currently navigating internal challenges, including the emergence of the Linda Mwananchi faction led by Senator Edwin Sifuna, which has signaled a shift in local political dynamics ahead of the 2027 elections.
