Orange launches SaferPhone plan in France as EU repairability guide promotes sustainable smartphones

Orange introduced SaferPhone, a €9.99 per month mobile plan for children in France that combines a capped 5 GB data allowance with parental‑control tools, anti‑cyber‑harassment features and screen‑time limits. The offer is designed to let parents give a first phone to their child while restricting unlimited internet access.

Separately, the Luxembourg‑based consumer group OekoTopten published its EU‑wide smartphone repairability guide, reminding shoppers to check the new repairability class labels (A‑E) that will appear on devices sold from June 2025. The guide highlights models with high repair scores and encourages the purchase of refurbished or easily repairable phones to reduce electronic waste.
