Orange reports profit growth and pursues Telecel Ghana stake

Orange Côte d’Ivoire reported an 18.3% increase in net profit for the first half of 2026. The group, which operates in Côte d’Ivoire, Burkina Faso, and Liberia, saw consolidated revenue rise by 16.1% year-on-year to 672.8 billion FCFA. This growth was driven by mobile data, fiber optics, voice traffic, and mobile financial services.

The group’s subscriber base grew by approximately 8.3% to 40.4 million customers. Operational profitability also improved, with EBITDAaL reaching 239.3 billion FCFA, a 19.2% increase compared to the first half of 2025.

Separately, Orange is reportedly in preliminary discussions to acquire a 70% controlling stake in Telecel Ghana from the Telecel Group. If the deal is finalized, the Ghanaian government would maintain its 30% interest. While negotiations are ongoing, no final agreement has been signed as of October 2026.
