Orange residents oppose Plymouth Brethren Christian Church development

Residents of Connemara Drive in Orange have expressed opposition to a proposed Plymouth Brethren Christian Church (PBCC) development during an Orange City Council meeting. Local residents, including Ken Hind, raised concerns regarding noise and pedestrian safety, noting that the estate lacks concrete paths, forcing walkers and children onto the road.

Opponents also argued that the proposed carpark would be insufficient for large events, leading to vehicles parking throughout the cul-de-sac. The PBCC proposal includes weekly Sunday services from 6am to 7am, Monday evening events, and occasional Friday and Sunday afternoon sessions, with a maximum capacity of 130 attendees.

Jared Layton, a member of the PBCC, stated that the church aims to provide convenient services for members living in the area and intends to be a low-impact presence. He noted that while the maximum capacity is 130, typical attendance is approximately 50 people.
