Orange Sierra Leone and Ministry of Health partner for mental health awareness

Orange Sierra Leone has partnered with the Ministry of Health and the Directorate of Mental Health and Non-Communicable Diseases to promote mental health awareness and wellbeing in Sierra Leone.

The initiative included a Mental Health Awareness Walk on October 10, 2026, traveling from the Youyi Building to Family Kingdom in Aberdeen, Freetown. The event drew hundreds of participants, including healthcare professionals, youth organizations, and representatives from the Sierra Leone Psychiatric Teaching Hospital.

Chief Medical Officer Dr. Mustapha Kabba and Dr. Abdul Jalloh, Director of Mental Health and Non-Communicable Diseases, emphasized the importance of treating mental health as a medical issue to reduce social stigma and discrimination. The partnership aims to strengthen advocacy and encourage communities, schools, and employers to create supportive environments for those seeking professional assistance.
