Orange to accelerate 2G network shutdown across France
Orange is entering the final phase of its 2G mobile network decommissioning in mainland France. Following initial shutdowns in the Southwest during the spring of 2026, the operator will resume service terminations on September 22, starting in Nice.
A large-scale shutdown is scheduled for October 6, 2026, affecting 44 departments across several regions, including Brittany, Corsica, Grand Est, Occitanie, Pays de la Loire, and Provence-Alpes-Côte d'Azur. While most users may not notice the change, the transition could impact devices that still rely on the legacy 2G network.
