Orangutan infants rescued in Odisha receive medical care
Five orangutan infants rescued from the Bhogarai area in the Balasore district of Odisha are currently in stable condition at Nandankanan Zoological Park. The group consists of three males and two females, all of whom are receiving specialized medical supervision and round-the-clock monitoring.
Medical evaluations, which included X-rays and blood analysis, revealed that one infant is suffering from severe anaemia and two others have mild anaemia. In response, veterinary teams and technical committees have initiated supportive supplementation and medication to treat the condition.
The infants were discovered on September 9 near Badapali village. Forest officials noted that the animals' young age and limited mobility suggested they could not have traveled long distances independently. The zoo authorities report that the infants are maintaining normal feeding patterns, body temperatures, and activity levels while undergoing treatment.
