Orb Energy celebrates 20 years of solar energy in India

Orb Energy, founded in Bengaluru in 2006, is celebrating its 20th anniversary of providing solar energy solutions in India. The company initially focused on making solar power accessible to semi-urban and rural areas facing power shortages through off-grid applications.

As solar technology costs decreased and net-metering policies were introduced, the company transitioned toward the SME rooftop solar market for grid-connected applications. In 2017, Orb Energy established a solar panel manufacturing facility in Bengaluru to create a vertically integrated model encompassing manufacturing, system design, installation, and after-sales service. To support adoption, the company also launched an in-house credit facility for small and medium enterprises.
