Orb Energy receives $2 million from KawiSafi Ventures for East African solar expansion
KawiSafi Ventures, the for-profit investment arm of Acumen, has completed a $2 million strategic equity investment in Orb Energy. The capital is specifically ring-fenced for Orb Energy’s African operations to accelerate the expansion of its commercial and industrial (C&I) solar business across East Africa.
The investment will support the execution of a growing project pipeline, primarily in Kenya, while facilitating expansion into neighboring markets. Key objectives for the funds include accelerating project delivery, scaling the local workforce, and strengthening institutional partnerships to mobilize additional debt financing for future installations.
Orb Energy, which was founded in Bengaluru, operates as a vertically integrated solar company with headquarters for its African operations in Nairobi. To date, the company has installed approximately 15 megawatts of rooftop solar for more than 60 commercial and industrial clients in the region, serving sectors such as manufacturing, healthcare, and hospitality.
