Orbelín Pineda scores first Liga MX goal in five years with Monterrey

Orbelín Pineda scored his first goal in Liga MX in five years during a match between Monterrey and FC Juárez. The midfielder, known as ‘Maguito’, scored late in the first half after finding space in the penalty area to beat goalkeeper Sebastián Jurado.

Pineda’s last goal in the Mexican league occurred on August 14, 2021, while playing for Cruz Azul in a 4-0 victory against Toluca. Following his successful stint in Mexico, he played in Europe for Celta de Vigo and AEK Athens before returning to the domestic league with Monterrey.

The 30-year-old midfielder has previously won league titles with both Cruz Azul and Chivas.
