Orbetello hosts third Renè Mantovani memorial for sea safety
The third memorial dedicated to Renè Mantovani was held on Sunday, September 6, at Feniglia beach in Orbetello. The event featured a multi-agency delegation that demonstrated best practices for sea safety.
Chiara Mantovani, the mother of Renè, who lost her son in the waters off Feniglia, issued a warning to the public, particularly young people, to never let their guard down in the sea. She emphasized that a sense of overconfidence can lead to overlooking hidden dangers, stating that “awareness is the key word to safeguard one's own safety and that of others.”
Local officials and emergency responders, including the Coast Guard, Firefighters, and Local Police, participated in the event. The Coast Guard coordinated safety exercises, while officials reminded attendees to respect danger signs, protect vulnerable groups like children and the elderly from excessive sun exposure, and call for emergency services immediately when necessary.
