Orbetello railway improvements and commuter discounts announced

Regional Infrastructure and Transport Councilor Filippo Boni recently inspected the Orbetello-Monte Argentario station as part of ongoing discussions regarding the Tirrenica railway line. The Costa Tirrenica Commuter Committee has expressed support for the regional dialogue, noting several initial improvements.

To address recent service difficulties, the Tuscany Region announced a 50% discount on monthly railway subscriptions for October, funded by 1.5 million euros in penalties applied to Trenitalia. Additionally, starting August 31, the RV 4132 service will resume from Orbetello instead of Grosseto, eliminating the need for bus transfers along the Aurelia. Plans are also in place to return the 4129 service to Orbetello in January, depending on construction progress.

While station improvements regarding waiting rooms, sanitation, accessibility, and security are underway, structural challenges remain. Commuters noted that Grosseto continues to act as the effective southern limit for most Tuscan regional services, leaving Orbetello with limited train starts and terminations.
