Orbitals launches as Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive

Orbitals, a cooperative puzzle-platformer developed by Tokyo-based Shapefarm, has launched as a Nintendo Switch 2 exclusive. The game is designed specifically for two-player gameplay, featuring characters Maki and Omura who navigate cosmic ruins using tools like grappling hooks, lasers, and water hoses that require players to work in tandem.

Creative Director Marcos Ramos has highlighted the game’s aesthetic, which draws heavy inspiration from 80s and 90s Japanese anime. The visual style is supported by hand-crafted cinematic cutscenes from Studio Massket and features both Japanese and English voice acting. Ramos cited various classic works, including AKIRA and Dragon Ball, as influences on the game’s art direction.
