Orchestra Sinfonica di Matera begins fifth summer tour in Basilicata

The Fondazione Orchestra Sinfonica di Matera launches its fifth summer season, titled “Serenate, Danze e Divertimenti”, with a concert tour that runs from 3 to 13 August 2024. Eleven performances will be held in venues across the province of Matera, including Borgo La Martella, the Castle of Malconsiglio in Miglionico, Bernalda’s Largo Chiesa Madre, the Abbey of San Michele Arcangelo in Montescaglioso, the churchyard of Pomarico, the Totò Amphitheatre in Nova Siri, the Le Monacelle complex in Matera, the Rondinelli Gardens in Montalbano Jonico, the cloister of the Convent of Saints Luca and Giuliano in Grottole, the Murati Gardens in Policoro, and concluding in Piazza Purgatorio in Grassano.

The concerts, all starting at 21:00, are conducted by Teresa Laera, who also serves as the orchestra’s artistic director. Gianna Racamato, president of the foundation, highlighted the project’s aim to bring symphonic music out of traditional theatres and into public squares, fostering community interaction and cultural exchange throughout the Basilicata region.
