Orchid Bio reports positive preclinical data for weekly oral obesity peptide pipeline

Orchid Bio (歌禮製藥有限公司) has announced positive preclinical data for its weekly oral peptide pipeline aimed at treating obesity and other metabolic diseases. The pipeline includes several first-in-class fixed-dose combination (FDC) formulations covering four validated targets.

The lead candidate, ASC36o, is currently in Phase I clinical trials in the United States, with top-line human pharmacokinetic data expected by the end of 2026. In non-human primate studies, ASC36o demonstrated a half-life of approximately 167 hours (about 7 days) and an oral bioavailability of 6% to 8%.

Orchid Bio is also developing FDC candidates, including ASC36_37o and ASC36_35o. In non-human primates, these combinations extended the half-life to over 8 days and increased oral bioavailability to 10% or higher. The company utilizes its proprietary POTENT technology to enhance delivery through dual absorption in the stomach and intestines. Several candidates in the pipeline are slated for FDA IND application submissions in the fourth quarter of 2026.
