Order of Engineers in Beirut launches three agricultural initiatives

The Order of Engineers in Beirut, specifically its Seventh Branch, has launched three new agricultural initiatives designed to advance agricultural engineering practices and protect both farmers and consumers. These initiatives include an agricultural platform, an agricultural prescription system, and a national training program focused on the responsible use of pesticides.

Minister of Agriculture Nizar Hani attended the launch, emphasizing the goal of returning the agricultural sector to scientific management. He noted that the ministry is working toward full traceability of agricultural products from farm to consumer. To enhance food safety, Hani announced that future licenses for agricultural medicine sales centers will be required to be held in the name of an agricultural engineer.

Additionally, the ministry has developed a 2025–2035 agricultural plan following a consultative process involving 24 committees of experts, unions, and farmers. The initiatives aim to boost Lebanon's agricultural competitiveness in Arab and Gulf markets through sustainable and traceable production methods.
