Ordu and Diyarbakır Police Release 2023 Crime and Traffic Safety Figures

In Ordu Province, authorities reported that 5,296 wanted individuals were captured during the first seven months of 2023. Traffic accidents claimed 19 lives, and 961,748 vehicles—including taxis and school buses—were inspected. Crime‑clearance rates reached 99.7%, with overall crime down 0.7% but property‑related offenses rising 7%. Drug‑related operations numbered 124, resulting in 132 arrests, the seizure of narcotics and the shutdown of 910 online accounts. The governor, Muammer Erol, also noted the presence of 668 Syrian migrants in the province.

Diyarbakır Province announced a 6% drop in total security incidents to 17,759, with clearance rates climbing to 98%. Arrests of wanted persons totaled 9,460. Police seized 2,611 weapons, captured 378 drug suspects, and confiscated 6.66 kg of cocaine, 81 kg of methamphetamine and a total of 420 kg of narcotics. Additionally, 4.7 million cannabis plants were destroyed. Cyber‑crime operations were conducted in 41 provinces, leading to 120 arrests. Overall, the data show a decline in violent and property crimes and continued efforts against drug trafficking and illegal online activities.
