Ordu beekeepers receive honey straining machines via government project

In Ordu, Turkey, a distribution ceremony was held for honey straining machines as part of the ‘Empower Our Beekeeper, Value Our Honey’ project. The initiative is supported by the General Directorate of Livestock (HAYGEM) under the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry.

During the event, 92 beekeepers received honey straining machines through a 70 percent grant. Salih Çelik, General Manager of HAYGEM, noted that the ministry has moved toward production planning for 2024, identifying honey as a key product. He also highlighted new support for migratory beekeepers and various beekeeping projects across Turkey.

Local officials and industry leaders emphasized that the project aims to increase the competitiveness of small-scale beekeepers and contribute to rural development. Ali Demir, President of the Turkish Beekeepers Association, noted that the Ministry provided an 80 percent support rate for beehive assistance, compared to a 40 percent increase in other livestock sectors.
