Ordu hosts Turkey Culture Route Festival to boost tourism

The city of Ordu has been included as the 15th stop of the Turkey Culture Route Festival, organized by the Ministry of Culture and Tourism. The event aims to showcase the region's natural, historical, and cultural assets to a wider audience.

Naci Şanlıtürk, MHP Ordu Deputy, emphasized the need to strengthen infrastructure and transportation to better utilize Ordu's tourism potential, noting that the city's economic strength in hazelnuts should be complemented by growth in the tourism sector. He highlighted the importance of promoting local cuisine and traditional arts, such as relief and glass art.

The festival also focuses on the socio-ecological significance of the hazelnut industry. Discussions held during the event, such as the ‘Living Heritage Talk: Hazelnut Farming’, explored how hazelnut production serves as a regional identity and an ecological way of life, rooted in traditional practices like ‘imece’ (collective labor). Additionally, exhibitions are highlighting the intersection of cultural heritage and modern design, including projects that integrate traditional motifs into contemporary fashion and weaving.
