Oregon assistant coach Ra’Shaad Samples charged with DUII after dashcam video shows crash
Dash‑cam footage released this week captured Oregon University assistant head coach and running backs coach Ra’Shaad Samples leaving the scene of an April 12 parking‑lot collision in downtown Eugene. Police say Samples, driving a Ford F‑150, backed into a parked Dodge Ram, causing minor vehicle damage but no injuries. The video appears to show him driving away before the other driver confronted him.
Samples was later cited in lieu of custody on charges of DUII (Driving Under the Influence of Intoxicants) and reckless driving, both Class A misdemeanors in Oregon. Investigators allege he gave a false name, claiming to be former NFL player DeSean Jackson, and initially refused to provide insurance information. The incident comes weeks before the Oregon Ducks’ 2026 season opener, prompting the program to consider possible disciplinary action.
