Oregon clarifies mushroom product legality and buying options

Oregon offers cultivated mushrooms such as white button, cremini, portobello, oyster and shiitake in grocery stores and farmers’ markets, while its forests provide popular wild varieties like chanterelle and morel for foragers.

Under state law, functional mushroom supplements and Amanita muscaria gummies can be sold in stores and online. By contrast, psilocybin‑containing gummies are prohibited from retail sale; the compound is only available in supervised sessions at licensed psilocybin service centers, as established by Measure 109, the Oregon Psilocybin Services Act passed by voters in 2020 and administered by the Oregon Health Authority.
