Oregon expands statewide digital ballot tracking tool

Oregon is expanding its digital ballot tracking capabilities statewide following $150,000 in new state funding. The expansion of the BallotTrax program allows voters to receive text, email, or phone updates regarding when their ballots are mailed, received by county election offices, and accepted for counting.

Election officials are urging voters to use official drop boxes rather than the mail due to U.S. Postal Service procedural changes. Under current procedures, mail is sent to a central hub in Portland to be postmarked before reaching its destination. To ensure ballots are counted, officials recommend mailing ballots by October 27 or visiting a post office counter for a manual postmark. Additionally, the state legislature has approved over $1 million to fund 20 new drop boxes and support county election offices.

In conjunction with these administrative updates, 'No Kings' demonstrations were held across the state to encourage early voting. Protesters used rallies to promote voter participation and provided information to help citizens locate official ballot drop box sites.
