Oregon Extends SNAP Replacement Deadline After July Wildfires

The Oregon Department of Human Services has extended the deadline for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) beneficiaries to request replacement benefits until August 14. The extension applies to households in twelve counties—Baker, Crook, Deschutes, Gilliam, Harney, Jackson, Jefferson, Sherman, Umatilla, Union, Wasco, and Wheeler—that lost or spoiled food during evacuation from July wildfires.

Normally, recipients have ten days to report disaster‑related food losses. After the new deadline, the standard ten‑day reporting rule will resume. Claims can be filed by calling 800‑699‑9075, visiting a local Human Services office, submitting a form online through the One Online portal, or mailing it to the department’s Salem address. Replacements will be credited to the beneficiaries’ Electronic Benefits Transfer cards, with the maximum amount covering the cost of the lost food.
