Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission adopts 2027 big game regulations

The Oregon Fish and Wildlife Commission has formally adopted the 2027 big game hunt regulations. While most regulations, units, and tag numbers in Eastern Oregon will remain largely unchanged from 2026, specific adjustments have been made to Western Oregon elk hunts. These changes include shifting spike-only bag limits for coast elk hunts to the first period and reducing cow harvests in the West Cascades hunt to help meet management objectives.

Additional actions taken by the Commission include approving funding for the Access and Habitat program and the expansion of the Coquille Wildlife Area in Coos County. The Commission also approved the sale of the John Day Watershed District Office and its land in Pendleton to the Confederated Tribes of the Umatilla Indian Reservation, and established a cougar target area in the Trout Creek Mountains.
