Oregon Health Plan to implement new work requirements in 2027

The Eastern Oregonian Coordinated Care Organization (EOCCO) has detailed upcoming changes to the Oregon Health Plan (OHP) scheduled for 2027. New federal rules will require OHP members to verify their work status to maintain coverage, a move that could impact approximately 200,000 people statewide under the Affordable Care Act’s Medicaid expansion.

During the organization’s annual summit, EOCCO CEO Sean Jessup noted that while members may be able to self-attest to meeting work requirements in 2027, they will likely be required to provide formal documentation of their working status after that year. Jessup warned that these changes, combined with federal funding reductions and state budget challenges, could lead to potential losses in enrollment.

EOCCO serves about 80,000 members across 12 rural and frontier counties, with 8,000 currently enrolled in the OHP. Officials are encouraging members to update their contact information to ensure they receive necessary renewal paperwork and are advising them to stay in contact with their providers and the CCO to navigate the transition.
