Oregon high school football player ejected after hitting flag carrier

A high school football player in Portland, Oregon, is facing scrutiny after a pregame incident involving an opponent carrying an American flag. During a rivalry game between Grant High School and Jefferson High School, video footage shows a player sprinting across the field and knocking down the student who was carrying the flag onto the field.

The Oregon School Activities Association (OSAA) confirmed it is aware of the incident, stating that the player involved was ejected from the game. The OSAA noted that such behavior has no place in interscholastic contests.

Jefferson High School officials and athletic directors have not yet responded to inquiries regarding the motivation behind the hit. A previously active Jefferson football Instagram account, which had posted about the incident, has since been deleted.
