Oregon implements POWER Act to lower residential electricity rates

In Oregon, the passage of the Oregon Residents with Energy Accountability (POWER) Act has led to a reduction in electricity rates of approximately 1.3 percent. This measure aims to alleviate economic pressure on roughly 858,000 residential customers and 105,000 commercial and industrial customers.

To offset the rising energy demands caused by vehicle electrification, digitalization, and heatwaves, the law implements a different pricing structure for high-consumption entities. Specifically, electricity rates for data centers have increased by an average of 29 percent to manage the strain on the energy grid.
