Oregon State names Braden Atkinson as starting quarterback

Oregon State football has named Mercer transfer and sophomore Braden Atkinson as the starting quarterback, selecting him over Maalik Murphy. Head coach JaMarcus Shephard discussed the decision during fall camp as the team prepares for their season opener against Houston on September 5.

The program is also managing legal issues involving linebacker Aiden Sullivan, who faces assault charges related to an incident in Benton County earlier this year. Sullivan has pleaded not guilty and remains with the team while out on bail.
