ORF Dismisses CEO Peter Schöber Over Compliance Allegations

Peter Schöber, co‑CEO of ORF‑III, was dismissed and placed on leave after a compliance investigation found his conduct incompatible with the responsibilities of a senior manager. The ORF compliance office, together with external experts, concluded that his behavior violated the standards expected of a broadcaster executive.

ORF General Director Ingrid Thurnher acted immediately to remove Schöber, and Kathrin Zierhut‑Kunz has been given sole management of ORF‑III pending further discussions about Schöber’s exit. Details of the investigation remain undisclosed for privacy reasons. Earlier, Schöber had sought an injunction to block the supervisory board from reviewing the compliance report, but the Vienna labour court rejected his request, emphasizing the board’s duty of confidentiality.
