Organ donation and transplant milestones reported in Spain

In Extremadura, the Association for Bone Marrow Donation (ADMO) is launching three new evening service experiences in Badajoz and Cáceres this October. In collaboration with the Extremadura Blood Bank, these sessions aim to make bone marrow and blood donation more accessible by accommodating work and personal schedules. The first event is scheduled for October 14 in Badajoz at the Club Deportivo Badajoz, coinciding with World Organ and Tissue Donation Day.

Meanwhile, the Murcia region has achieved a historic record for liver transplants, performing 14 operations in September alone. This surpasses the previous monthly record set in January 2019. Between January and September, the region has seen an increase in organ donors, totaling 78 compared to 66 during the same period last year. The Hospital Clínico Universitario Virgen de la Arrixaca remains the regional reference center, contributing significantly to the 173 solid organ transplants performed in the region through September 30.
