Organ donation awareness campaigns launched in Morocco and Tunisia

Regional awareness campaigns regarding the importance of organ and tissue donation have been launched in Fez, Morocco, and Ben Arous, Tunisia.

In Fez, the third edition of a national awareness campaign titled ‘I am a donor’ has commenced. Organized by the Rahma Association for Kidney Failure Diseases in partnership with the Fez-Meknes Territorial Health Group and the Faculty of Medicine, Pharmacy, and Dental Medicine of Fez, the initiative aims to educate citizens on the medical, legal, and humanitarian aspects of donation. The program includes theatrical performances, medical discussions, and testimonies from transplant recipients. Officials emphasized that organ transplantation, particularly kidney transplants, remains the gold standard for improving patient quality of life and long-term survival compared to dialysis.

In Ben Arous, Tunisia, a regional event held at the Mourouj 1 health facility focused on the theme ‘Your gift is life, your donation is hope’ to mark National Organ Donation Day. The event, organized by the Regional Health Directorate in collaboration with civil society and youth and sports authorities, included health workshops, blood pressure and glucose screenings, and cultural activities. Tunisian health officials noted that the country is making significant progress in transplant medicine through advanced technical protocols and specialized medical teams, encouraging citizens to consider registering as donors.
