Organ donation drives start in Spain's Castellón province and Andorra

In the province of Castellón, Spain, the Diputación de Castelló partnered with ALCER Castalia to launch a multi‑day organ and tissue donation awareness campaign titled “L’Art de donar vida.” The event, running until 6 June, includes educational games, health checks and an exhibition of art contest entries. Deputy Marisa Torlà highlighted a new €38,000 agreement to fund a project on renal disease prevention and early diagnosis in the region.

In Andorra, the government and the Servei Andorrà d’Atenció Sanitària (SAAS) held a symposium to integrate organ donation fully into the national health system. Secretary of State for Health Cristina Pérez presented data showing more than 1,600 umbilical‑cord blood donations since 2012 (resulting in seven transplants) and a 22.7 % cord‑blood donation rate for births in 2025. The bone‑marrow registry now has over 700 registered donors, with five confirmatory tests and one actual donation, while a cornea program launched on 15 May 2025 has recorded 20 donors and produced 16 viable corneas. The aim is to make donation a routine indicator of health‑care quality and public trust.
