Organ donation from 2-year-old girl saves four patients
Following the brain death of a 2-year-old girl in Şanlıurfa due to an electric shock, her family made the decision to donate her organs, providing hope to multiple patients in different cities.
Under the coordination of the Şanlıurfa Training and Research Hospital and the Harran University Hospital Organ Transplant Center, the donation process was carried out. Using the split liver transplant method, the child's liver was able to be shared between two recipients.
The donated organs, consisting of one liver and two kidneys, were transported to Malatya and Diyarbakır. In total, the donation provided life-saving opportunities for four patients awaiting transplants.
