Organization of American States to observe Grenada general election
The Organization of American States (OAS) has formally agreed to deploy an Electoral Observation Mission for Grenada’s upcoming general election on November 5, 2026. The privileges-and-immunities agreement was signed in Washington by OAS Secretary General Albert R. Ramdin and Grenada’s Permanent Representative, Ambassador Tarlie Francis.
The mission will be led by former Saint Kitts and Nevis ambassador Sherry Tross. This marks the ninth time the OAS has monitored elections in Grenada since 1984. Following the vote, the mission is expected to issue recommendations regarding the nation’s democratic institutions and electoral processes.
All 15 seats in the House of Representatives are contested in this election, with a party requiring at least eight seats to form a majority government. A total of 46 candidates were nominated for the constituencies. Polls are scheduled to be open from 6:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. local time on election day, with police officers permitted to vote early on November 2.
