Mersudin Čalaković and Catering operation suspects face continued detention
In Montenegro, Mersudin Čalaković remains in the Spuž investigation prison following a new investigation by the Special State Prosecutor's Office. Although his previous detention regarding murder and kidnapping charges was revoked due to the expiration of a three-year period without a first-instance verdict, he was arrested at the prison gates on September 22. He is suspected of participating in a large-scale cigarette smuggling operation involving several individuals, including Ernad Murić. Prosecutors cite Sky application communications as key evidence, linking specific account activity to border crossing records. Čalaković has denied the allegations, stating he never used the Sky application.
In Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Municipal Court in Sarajevo has extended the detention of four suspects involved in the “Catering” operation for an additional two months. The individuals held include Admir Arnautović (known as Šmrk), Anel Sejfović, Adnan Maglić, and Mirsad Mujkić. The investigation, conducted by the Cantonal Prosecutor's Office in cooperation with multiple agencies, targets suspected involvement in illegal drug trafficking, extortion, and causing public danger. During the operation, authorities searched over 20 locations and seized firearms, ammunition, cash, and narcotics. Meanwhile, the court released Hamza Asotić from detention, imposing restrictions on his meetings and requiring weekly reporting to the police.
