Oriental Land subsidiary invests 88 million yen in Hakuba tourism venture

Oriental Land Innovations (OLI), a wholly-owned subsidiary of Oriental Land, has completed an 88 million yen third-party allotment of shares to Zukutochie, a regional tourism venture based in the Hakuba area of Nagano Prefecture. This marks the first time OLI has invested in a regional company focused on the integrated planning, development, and operation of tourism facilities.

Zukutochie aims to use the funds to accelerate the revitalization and development of tourism facilities, particularly within the Hakuba Valley area, and to strengthen recruitment. The company focuses on repurposing underutilized assets, including the renovation of existing accommodations, M&A, and business succession. Its portfolio includes various projects such as the ao LAKESIDE CAFE, Hakuba Zekkei Sauna “ao”, and the Hakuba Ham food manufacturing business.

Through this partnership, Zukutochie intends to incorporate OLI’s expertise in facility management and human resource development to build a sustainable tourism model. The goal is to transform the region into a world-class, all-season mountain resort where profits are reinvested locally to support the community and future generations. OLI plans to eventually expand this model to other regions across Japan.
