Oriental Pearl Tower: Shanghai's landmark sphere-shaped TV tower

The Oriental Pearl Tower, also known as Dongfang Mingzhu, is a prominent television tower located in the Pudong district of Shanghai. Situated in the Lujiazui financial area along the Huangpu River, the structure is characterized by its unique design of stacked spheres of varying sizes connected by steel supports.

Constructed between 1991 and 1994, the tower reaches a total height of 468 meters. It serves a dual purpose as a broadcasting facility for radio and television signals and as a major tourist attraction. The tower features multiple observation decks, dining levels, and exhibition spaces dedicated to the history of the city, providing views across the river toward the historic Bund waterfront.
