Orio leads Donostiarra by three seconds in Bandera de La Concha
Orio secured a narrow three-second lead over Donostiarra during the first day of the 131st Bandera de La Concha rowing competition. Despite a strong performance from the San Sebastián-based Donostiarra crew, Orio managed to maintain a slim advantage after a competitive final stretch.
Zierbena finished the session 11 seconds behind Orio. The Zierbena crew attributed their loss of time during the return leg to increasing wind intensity and difficult sea conditions. Aitor Lazkano, the Zierbena coxswain, noted that the crew attempted to seek shelter near the island to mitigate the impact of the wind.
Other notable rankings from the first day include Bermeo in fourth place, 21 seconds behind the leader, and Hondarribia in fifth, 32 seconds behind. The competition is set to conclude next Sunday.
