Oriol Pla awarded 2026 National Theater Prize

The Spanish Ministry of Culture has awarded actor Oriol Pla the 2026 National Theater Prize. The award, which includes 30,000 euros, recognizes his exceptional work and technical mastery throughout 2025.

The jury specifically highlighted his performance in ‘Gula (Gola)’, a solo production co-created with Pau Matas Nogué. The play, which premiered at the Sala Francisco Nieva in the Teatro Valle-Inclán, was praised for its virtuoso use of clown language and its exploration of contemporary themes such as excessive consumption and the constant need for immediate stimuli.

Born in Barcelona in 1993, Pla has a background in circus arts and various theatrical disciplines, including mime, music, and acrobatics. He has worked extensively across theater, television, and film.
